Salary: SGD 75,000 per year
This role is responsible for underwriting credit insurance risks across a regional portfolio, supporting profitable growth through disciplined risk selection, pricing, and policy structuring. You will assess buyer creditworthiness, evaluate country and sector exposures, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver timely, well-justified underwriting decisions in line with appetite and delegated authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite credit insurance proposals, renewals, amendments, and endorsements, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Analyse financial statements, management accounts, cash flow, payment performance, and external intelligence to set and manage credit limits.
- Monitor portfolio performance, aggregate exposures, concentrations, and early warning indicators; recommend risk mitigation actions where required.
- Set appropriate terms, conditions, pricing, and deductibles; document rationale clearly and maintain robust audit trails.
- Partner with distribution, brokers, and client service teams to support account strategy, new business development, and retention.
- Contribute to regional underwriting projects, product enhancements, and process improvements, including automation and data quality initiatives.
- Support claims, collections, and recoveries teams by providing underwriting insight and participating in account reviews.
- Prepare and present underwriting referrals and portfolio reports to underwriting committees as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in credit insurance underwriting and/or trade credit risk (typically 5+ years), with exposure to regional portfolios.
- Strong financial analysis capability, including interpretation of audited accounts and key credit ratios.
- Sound knowledge of trade credit insurance products, policy wordings, and common exclusions and conditions.
- Understanding of regional market dynamics, country risk, and sector risk across Asia.
- Demonstrated ability to work within delegated authorities, underwriting governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including broker and client engagement and confident negotiation.
- Advanced communication skills with clear, structured underwriting notes and presentations.
- High attention to detail, strong judgement, and ability to manage competing priorities to meet service levels.
- Proficiency with underwriting systems, spreadsheets, and credit information tools; comfortable with data-driven decision-making.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline; professional insurance or credit risk qualifications are advantageous.
Working Arrangements
Based in Singapore with collaboration across regional teams. Occasional travel may be required for broker and client meetings, portfolio reviews, and market engagements.
