We are seeking an experienced Valuation Senior Manager with a specialisation in Life Actuarial to join our dynamic team based in Malaysia. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing actuarial valuation processes, contributing to strategic decision-making, and ensuring accurate reporting in accordance with applicable regulatory frameworks and accounting standards, including IFRS 17.
This role involves the management of a team of actuarial professionals and liaison with various business stakeholders. You will oversee actuarial assumptions, projection models, risk assessments, and financial reporting for life insurance portfolios. A deep understanding of the regional insurance market, regulatory environment, and actuarial methodologies is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the life actuarial valuation function, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of statutory and internal reporting requirements.
- Guide the implementation and refinement of actuarial models, particularly for IFRS 17 and other regulatory frameworks.
- Perform valuation of insurance liabilities, experience studies, assumption setting and reserve analyses.
- Work closely with finance, risk, underwriting, and other departments to ensure alignment on strategic objectives.
- Provide actuarial insights and recommendations on product profitability, capital planning and business strategy.
- Mentor and manage junior actuaries, ensuring continuous development and technical excellence.
- Respond to regulatory and audit queries and support compliance with local insurance regulations.
Requirements:
- Fellowship in a recognised actuarial body (e.g. FIA, FSA, FFA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in life actuarial roles, with strong exposure to valuation and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated expertise in IFRS 17 implementation and compliance preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency in actuarial modelling tools (such as Prophet, RAFM) and Microsoft Excel.
- Good understanding of regulatory frameworks in Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
