The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing actuarial valuation processes, contributing to strategic decision-making, and ensuring accurate reporting in accordance with applicable regulatory frameworks and accounting standards, including IFRS 17.

This role involves the management of a team of actuarial professionals and liaison with various business stakeholders. You will oversee actuarial assumptions, projection models, risk assessments, and financial reporting for life insurance portfolios. A deep understanding of the regional insurance market, regulatory environment, and actuarial methodologies is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the life actuarial valuation function, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of statutory and internal reporting requirements.
  • Guide the implementation and refinement of actuarial models, particularly for IFRS 17 and other regulatory frameworks.

  • Work closely with finance, risk, underwriting, and other departments to ensure alignment on strategic objectives.
  • Provide actuarial insights and recommendations on product profitability, capital planning and business strategy.
  • Mentor and manage junior actuaries, ensuring continuous development and technical excellence.
  • Respond to regulatory and audit queries and support compliance with local insurance regulations.

Requirements:

  • Fellowship in a recognised actuarial body (e.g. FIA, FSA, FFA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in life actuarial roles, with strong exposure to valuation and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in IFRS 17 implementation and compliance preferred.
  • Strong technical proficiency in actuarial modelling tools (such as Prophet, RAFM) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Good understanding of regulatory frameworks in Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

The role offers a competitive compensation package and the opportunity to work in a forward-thinking and supportive actuarial environment. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, technically strong professional to grow their career in a highly collaborative and innovative setting.
