We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Casualty Underwriter to join a growing international insurer, focusing on regional APAC Liabilities business.
This role requires a deep understanding of casualty underwriting, with the responsibility of managing a diverse portfolio while driving growth and providing tailored insurance solutions to meet client needs.
Prior APAC experience is preferred, however not mandatory, and profiles from diverse backgrounds with the willingness to relocate to Singapore are welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex casualty risks across the APAC region.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of existing clients while pursuing new business opportunities.
- Assess and analyze risk exposures to determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to deliver customized insurance solutions.
- Monitor portfolio performance, ensuring profitability and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
- Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters within the team.
- Prepare and present underwriting recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in casualty underwriting, preferably within the APAC region.
- Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of risk assessment and pricing strategies.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build strong relationships with clients and brokers.
- Ability to work independently and make sound underwriting decisions under pressure.
- Familiarity with local insurance regulations and market conditions in the APAC region preferred.
- Professional certifications such as ACII or equivalent are preferred.
