Portfolio Strategist | Private Banking
A leading private bank in Asia is looking for an experienced Portfolio Strategist to join its Investment Advisory team — a high-visibility role sitting between the Chief Investment Office and the client-facing advisory teams.
If you enjoy turning house views and macro calls into portfolios that actually work for real clients — not just slides — this could be your next move.
The Role
You'll act as the investment partner to a team of Senior Client Advisors, translating the bank's CIO views and market outlook into portfolio recommendations for High-Net-Worth and Ultra-High-Net-Worth clients. Expect a genuine mix of markets thinking, portfolio construction, and client-facing advisory work — this isn't a back-office research seat.
What You'll Be Doing
Portfolio Advisory & Construction
- Build and tailor investment portfolios around each client's goals, time horizon, liquidity needs, and risk appetite
- Shape strategic and tactical asset allocation across equities, fixed income, alternatives, structured products, and multi-asset strategies
- Review portfolios regularly to sharpen diversification, risk-adjusted returns, and overall positioning
- Flag rebalancing opportunities as markets shift
Strategy & Market Insight
- Translate the CIO's house views and macro outlook into language clients and advisors can act on
- Track global markets, economic data, and geopolitical developments for portfolio impact
- Contribute investment commentary and tactical ideas for client conversations
Client-Facing Work
- Join client meetings alongside Senior Client Advisors to walk through strategy and portfolio recommendations
- Build genuine credibility with sophisticated HNW/UHNW clients
- Make complex investment concepts land clearly and persuasively
- Support new client acquisition through differentiated, credible advice
Collaboration
- Work closely with Senior Client Advisors, Product Specialists, Investment Advisors, Treasury, and Capital Markets on bespoke solutions
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and training on markets and investment strategy
Risk & Governance
- Keep recommendations aligned with regulatory requirements, internal policy, and suitability standards
- Monitor concentration risk and allocation drift
- Maintain a clean audit trail of investment rationale
What We're Looking For
- 5–10+ years in private banking, wealth management, institutional asset management, investment advisory, or portfolio management
- Solid grounding in global markets and investment products, ideally with direct HNW/UHNW client exposure
- A track record of building and articulating investment strategy, not just executing it
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Mathematics, or similar; a Master's/MBA is a plus
- CFA, CAIA, CFP, or FRM preferred
- Comfortable with Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, or similar platforms
- Sharp analytical instincts paired with strong presentation skills, commercial drive, and high personal integrity
