We are seeking a skilled and experienced Valuation Actuary to join our client's expanding APAC team based in Singapore. This role plays a critical part in delivering actuarial leadership in the valuation and financial reporting of life insurance businesses across the Asia-Pacific region.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified actuary with a strong background in life insurance, proficient in local and international financial reporting standards including IFRS 17, and capable of contributing to both technical and strategic decision-making processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence valuation practices across diverse markets while working closely with senior stakeholders across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the production of actuarial valuations and financial reports for APAC life insurance business units.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and accounting standards, including local statutory frameworks, IFRS 17, and Solvency II.
- Contribute to the implementation and optimisation of IFRS 17 processes and systems across the region.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including pricing, finance, risk, and modelling functions to ensure accurate and timely delivery of results.
- Present key insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders and help shape strategic decision making.
- Support development and maintenance of actuarial models using Prophet or other actuarial software.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing supporting analysis and documentation as required.
Requirements:
- Fellowship qualification from a recognised actuarial body (e.g. IFoA, SOA, etc.).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in actuarial valuation within life insurance.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory and financial reporting requirements (including IFRS 17 and Solvency II).
- Strong technical skills, with proficiency in actuarial modelling systems such as Prophet.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience working across multiple markets in the Asia-Pacific region is highly advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
