We are seeking a Senior Payments Business Analyst to join our client's Core Banking IT department, based in Central Singapore. The team supports a global banking system used by over 25 international business units. This strategic system manages a wide range of financial services including payments, remittances, deposits, guarantees, letters of credit, and provides local and central reporting via a data warehouse platform.
The role demands a proactive and analytical professional to manage functional analysis, quality assurance, and occasionally oversee project management tasks. The ideal candidate will work closely with global stakeholders and interface teams, focusing on evolving the payments infrastructure to support business growth and innovation while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Role Responsibilities:
- Execute business analysis best practices and engage stakeholders across front-to-back functions.
- Analyse functional requirements from business users and translate them into actionable specifications.
- Design and execute functional and integration test cases based on defined requirements.
- Manage defects, perform triage, and ensure quality delivery within Agile-Scrum frameworks.
- Provide end-to-end support during system changes and enhancements in the cash management ecosystem.
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment and guide teams on technical and business fronts.
- Define payment solutions and evaluate alternative IT approaches for complex banking requirements.
- Assist in UAT and QA activities, providing functional guidance to development teams.
- Contribute to sprint and project planning as a Scrum Master and support delivery monitoring.
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a business analyst in banking IT systems with significant exposure to payment systems and core banking applications.
- Strong knowledge of ISO20022, SWIFT, and SEPA payment formats, file mapping, and validations.
- Hands-on experience with payments hubs, clearing and settlement systems, and ACH programmes.
- Understanding of payment lifecycle including high-value payments and handling R-messages.
- Proficiency in functional and system integration testing, UAT, SDLC and software testing lifecycle.
- Experience breaking down epics into user stories with traceability and linkage to functionality.
- Familiar with Agile tools (Atlassian), Visual documentation (Visio), and QA testing tools.
- Exposure to Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and writing test cases using Cucumber/Gherkin syntax is a plus.
- Experience in corporate banking areas such as international/domestic payments, correspondent banking, and liquidity management is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
This position is open to Singaporeans only. You will be part of a diverse and agile international IT centre, working closely with global offices to build strategic banking systems. Occasional travel may be required to coordinate with other teams across Europe and Asia.
