We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Physical Operator to support the execution of physical petrochemical and energy trades. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing trade documentation, coordinating vessel and logistics operations, and supporting finance and settlement processes. This role requires exceptional communication, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities within a dynamic trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trade Documentation: Prepare, review and manage trade-related documents such as bills of lading, invoices, certificates of origin, and customs documentation. Ensure documentation is aligned with contractual terms and Incoterms, and coordinate timely exchange with banks, counterparties, and internal teams.
  • Vessel & Logistics Coordination: Liaise with shipping agents, terminals, inspectors, and surveyors to manage vessel nominations, cargo loading, and discharge operations. Monitor voyage status, address delays or issues, and ensure adherence to port regulations and safety standards.
  • Finance & Settlement: Support invoicing, reconciliation, cost tracking, and the timely submission of documents for payment processes including letters of credit or open account settlements. Assist in freight, demurrage, and port cost calculations.
  • Internal & External Coordination: Serve as the operational liaison between traders, clients, and internal departments including finance, legal, and risk, ensuring effective communication and smooth execution of trades.
  • Compliance & Control: Ensure all operations comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and international trade regulations. Maintain comprehensive records and audit trails.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Business or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in petrochemicals or energy physical operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade documentation and shipping procedures.
  • Familiarity with vessel operations, chartering agreements, and port regulations.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and analytical skills.
