IT Project Manager

Responsibilities:

• This role will be responsible for driving the delivery of technology projects across trading and risk management systems while overseeing key BAU workstreams supporting front-office and middle-office functions.
• The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts, developers, QA teams, and technology leadership to deliver strategic initiatives across the commodities trading landscape.
• Key Responsibilities
• Project Delivery & Governance
• Manage multiple concurrent technology projects from initiation through delivery.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain project roadmaps in collaboration with Business Analysts, Developers, and QA teams.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives.
• Lead project mobilisation activities, including resource planning and allocation.
• Stakeholder Management
• Partner with business teams including Product Control, Market Risk, Quantitative Analytics, Accounting, and Settlements.
• Facilitate alignment across business and technology stakeholders to establish a shared understanding of project priorities and outcomes.
• Manage competing priorities and drive decision-making across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Provide regular project status updates and executive-level reporting.
• Resource & Risk Management
• Oversee project resource requirements and proactively identify capacity constraints.
• Escalate resource gaps and coordinate cross-team support where necessary.
• Manage project risks, dependencies, assumptions, and issues.
• Develop mitigation and remediation plans to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Change Management & Continuous Improvement
• Drive change management processes and user adoption activities.
• Support training, communication, and post-implementation activities where required.
• Promote the effective use of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Leverage AI and GenAI tools to improve project delivery efficiency and team productivity.

 

Requirements:

• Mandatory Experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience in IT Project Management.
• Experience working within a commodities trading house, investment bank, or a tier-one technology consultancy/vendor supporting trading environments.
• Proven experience delivering technology projects in trading or risk management environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
• Demonstrated expertise in:

• Preferred Experience
• Exposure to Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) platforms such as Topaz, Horizon, Allegro, Endur, Aspect, or similar systems.
• Good understanding of commodity trading lifecycles across financial and physical markets.
• Experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Prior technical background as a Developer, Solutions Architect, Technical Business Analyst, or similar role.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions and challenge requirements when necessary.
• Experience using AI/GenAI tools in project execution and delivery.
• Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Experience managing globally distributed teams and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
