Role Overview
The Data Engineer joins a team responsible for designing and implementing data ingestion workflows, structured data extraction from diverse document formats, and maintaining cloud-based data warehouse schemas. The role also encompasses developing and monitoring ETL pipelines, integrating LLM-powered applications, and building backend services on cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP. Success in this position involves delivering reliable, scalable data systems that facilitate complex data analyses and AI workflows.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Build and maintain reliable data pipelines for ingesting external data sources
  • Develop robust, scheduled, production-grade data workflows
  • Parse and extract structured data from PDFs, HTML, XBRL, and complex documents
  • Design and maintain schemas for cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or PostgreSQL
  • Develop production ETL workflows using Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
  • Implement data quality validation, monitoring, and lineage tracking
  • Build APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks to serve downstream tools
  • Deploy and operate cloud systems on AWS or GCP

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and optimise data ingestion pipelines from external sources
  • Document parsing and data extraction workflows for diverse file formats
  • Design and maintain schemas on cloud data warehouses for analytics purposes
  • Develop, deploy, and monitor production ETL workflows using orchestration frameworks
  • Build and operate APIs to facilitate data access for analytics tools
  • Manage cloud infrastructure deployment and operational tasks on AWS or GCP

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience building and operating production software systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Solid experience with data modelling, testing, and performance tuning
  • Hands-on experience parsing messy real-world documents (PDF, HTML, XBRL, etc.)
  • 2–3 years of production experience deploying LLM-powered applications
  • Experience with at least one workflow orchestration framework (Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster)
  • Ability to design schemas for modern cloud data warehouses
  • Excellent communication skills, collaborating closely with research teams and leadership
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • On-site work environment in Asia, with hybrid working arrangements
