Core Operations Engineer – Singapore
A leading global financial technology firm is seeking Core Operations Engineers to join a small, fast-paced international team responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a sophisticated electronic trading system operating across hundreds of venues worldwide.
Role Overview
Core Operations Engineers work at the core of the firm’s interaction with global financial markets. They act as the first point of contact for external trading connections and play a critical role in ensuring system reliability, performance, and stability. The role involves a dynamic mix of counterparty support, risk monitoring, system triage, and platform optimization.
Engineers operate in a high-performance Linux environment, solving complex technical issues while collaborating closely with traders and exchanges to understand market structure and ensure smooth market connectivity. The position requires the ability to perform under pressure in time-sensitive, high-stakes environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of electronic trading systems
- Support and monitor external trading connections across global markets
- Perform system triage, incident response, and performance optimization
- Collaborate with traders and external counterparties to resolve issues
- Contribute to risk monitoring and operational stability
- Work within a Linux-based infrastructure in a high-frequency trading environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Linux environments
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python or Bash)
- Ability to remain composed in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations
- Interest in high-throughput trading systems and low-latency technologies
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent academic background
- Technical adaptability and curiosity for emerging technologies
Nice to Have
- Experience with financial systems or global markets
- Familiarity with SQL
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Salt)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/UDP protocols
