Head of Voice AI Research

The Head of Voice AI Research joins our client’s innovative team to lead the development of next-generation speech models and drive technical strategy in voice AI. This role demands a strong focus on advancing full-duplex speech capabilities and maintaining industry-leading architecture.

Our client is a conversational AI company dedicated to transforming customer communication through AI-driven voice and digital channels, serving hundreds of enterprise clients worldwide with significant call processing volume and recent Series B funding.

Role Overview
The Head of Voice AI Research reports directly to the CEO and leads the AI team responsible for the full technical roadmap of voice AI. You will manage both commercial product enhancements and frontier research initiatives, ensuring delivery of high-impact innovations. Success involves owning the technical strategy, building the team, and representing the company at top industry events.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Lead the iteration of low-resource ASR models for Southeast Asian and Latin American languages.
  • Manage optimisation of large-model post-training frameworks for customer-service scenarios.
  • Drive development of low-resource TTS, focusing on expressiveness, prosody, and pronunciation accuracy.
  • Define and execute research roadmap for full-duplex speech, including audio-in / audio-out, listen-while-speaking, and listen-while-thinking capabilities.
  • Track latest academic and industrial advances in speech LLMs, streaming ASR/TTS, and related areas.
  • Serve as external technology face at top academic conferences and industry events.
  • Own hiring standards and the team’s technical development.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in voice AI / deep learning (open to strong recent PhDs).
  • First-hand understanding of deep learning-based ASR, TTS, or speech LLMs with a proven project leadership track record.
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin, written and spoken, to conduct business effectively.
